Our adventure began early on the 24th of February, departing from Kochi with excitement for what lay ahead. After a long flight via Abu Dhabi, we arrived in Copenhagen and took a smooth train ride to Halmstad, Sweden. The town’s efficient transport system and friendly atmosphere immediately showcased Sweden’s blend of modernity and accessibility.
Our first night at ProfilHotels Halmstad Plaza was restful, although adjusting to the timezone made for light sleep. It marked the beginning of a journey that would blend work and cultural discovery in an unforgettable way.
We started the day with an impressively big breakfast spread before heading to Effektify’s office. Walking through Halmstad’s quiet, picturesque streets set the tone for a day of meaningful interactions. At the office, we were warmly welcomed by Martin, Peter, Hjalmar, and others, all embodying the Swedish spirit of collaboration and openness.
The office, personally designed by their CEO Mattias, reflected the thoughtful and functional Swedish work culture, creating an inspiring environment for productivity. Our insightful and energizing meetings focused on strengthening our collaboration with Effektify.
Casual moments, such as playing table tennis with the team, reminded me of how LiteBreeze values both professionalism and camaraderie. Over lunch, we discussed not just current projects but long-term visions—ensuring that our collaboration continues to align seamlessly.
Ending the day with a pizza from Domino’s, I reflected on the unique work-life balance and the personalized care that is central to the Swedish work ethic.
Saying goodbye to Jithin temporarily, I boarded a train towards Karlstad, eager to meet our CEO, David. The journey was picturesque, with snow-dusted landscapes all around. Gothenburg’s central station was a brief yet beautiful stop, but it was Karlstad that truly captivated me. Everything was covered in a blanket of snow.
Arriving in Karlstad around noon, I was warmly welcomed by David, who took me to his home—a place as inviting as the man himself. We had lunch from Restaurang Napoli before heading out to meet our long-term clients Erik, Fredrik, and Shamith at Opsio. It was a pleasure to finally meet the faces behind the emails and calls. The day ended on a high note back at David’s home, where I was introduced to his lovely family and treated to a delicious home-cooked meal.
The day kicked off early as David and I prepared for our trip to Stockholm. Before leaving, we made a quick stop at the LiteBreeze office for a productive meeting with Mikael from Safepac, one of our long-term clients. Afterward, we boarded a train, enjoying the scenic ride through snow-covered landscapes.
Arriving in Stockholm, the city’s energy hit us immediately. We checked into Scandic Klara and then headed straight to our first meeting with Johan Björk at Infront. The lively atmosphere in the office set the stage for a productive discussion, helping us strengthen our ongoing collaboration.
Next, we met Martin Fronmark at Beet AB, where the sunset view over Sergels Torg from their conference room provided a stunning backdrop to our talks. It was a great reminder of how LiteBreeze balances professionalism with personal connections—something that always stands out in these meetings.
In the evening, after a day full of meetings, we explored Stockholm by foot and e-bike, taking in sights like the Swedish Parliament and the Royal Palace. Dinner at Drottninghof Grill & Bar was the perfect way to wrap up the day—a good meal, good company, and a chance to reflect on the value of building strong client relationships
I woke up early again, this time to share breakfast with David at the hotel restaurant. We then headed out to Haymarket by Scandic, where we met with our Allenvo client for a fruitful discussion. The day continued with a walk to Knut Upplandsgatan for a lunch meeting with Johan and Francisco Saldes. The pizza we had there was, without exaggeration, the best I’ve ever tasted.
Navigating Stockholm’s massive railway station on my own was a bit of an adventure—I got lost more than once. But eventually, I found my way and caught the train back to Karlstad. Jithin rejoined us at the station, and it was good to have the team back together.
Our journey to Norway began with a scenic drive, winding through snow-covered landscapes that made the trip unforgettable. The breathtaking views made it clear why Norway is known for its natural beauty.
The first stop was to meet with our Portalo client. The conversation was productive, reinforcing the importance of building strong, ongoing partnerships. Afterwards, we took a break from the hustle to experience something truly unique—a sauna at the Norway Pier, followed by refreshing dips in the ocean. It was an invigorating experience, leaving us feeling recharged.
Later, we met Markus and his family for dinner at KöD Oslo in Posthallen. The meal was a perfect mix of great food and even better company. Before heading back to the hotel, we explored the Oslo mall, picking up a few souvenirs along the way.
We ended the day with a relaxing stay at Scandic Oslo City, reflecting on how a mix of work and personal moments always makes these trips special.
The last full day was spent embracing the thrill of sliding at Oslo Winter Park—an activity that, much like our work at LiteBreeze, required a balance of excitement and control. The lunch that followed, overlooking the stunning landscapes, was a reminder of how moments of pause and reflection are essential, not just in travel but in the work we do.
Later, at Oslo Airport, the seamless check-in process was another nod to the efficiency that permeates Scandinavian culture—a quality we integrate into our project management and client handling.
Our journey ended in Paris, where we had the chance to explore iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower. This final leg was a reminder of how LiteBreeze works across borders, bringing together diverse cultures and perspectives to create tailored solutions for our global clients.
Exploring Scandinavia brought unique challenges and learnings that may be invaluable for our colleagues visiting in the future. Here are some practical lessons to keep in mind:
Avoid converting costs to INR constantly—it can make everything feel prohibitively expensive. Focus on the experience instead of the price.
The time difference is significant; waking up early (3:30–4:30 AM local time) to match IST (7–8 AM) can be challenging. Plan your schedule with this in mind.
Lunch is around 12 PM, and dinner happens by 6 PM. Late-night dining options are limited especially in smaller towns, so plan your meals accordingly.
Skyscrapers in cities like Oslo and Stockholm can interfere with Google Maps, leading to delays. Factor this into your plans.
While English is widely spoken, some situations (e.g., dining at Asian restaurants) may pose communication challenges. Patience and gestures go a long way.
Double-check your visa duration before booking. A discrepancy led to reduced travel days and unnecessary expenses on this trip.
Stations in major cities like Stockholm are large and can be confusing. Allocate extra time to avoid getting lost.
With average temperatures around 5°C, layering up with warm jackets, gloves, and scarves is essential for travelers from warmer climates.
Scandinavians often prefer neutral, solid colors like black, blue, and white. Wearing similar shades helps you blend in seamlessly.
Be cautious in crowded tourist areas, especially in cities like Paris, where scams like “charity donations” can be a cover for pickpockets.
Ensure your Forex card works consistently and has a digital backup like Apple Pay. Issues with a Forex card can be disruptive, as experienced during this trip.
Familiarize yourself with local transport (railways, buses, etc.). Assistance isn’t always readily available, as seen with confusion over airport shuttles in France.
Tap water in Sweden is safe to drink, even from bathroom faucets, so hotels may not provide additional bottled water.
Trains may split, with different sections heading to separate destinations. Ensure you board the correct carriage to avoid misdirection.
Scandinavians start and end their days early. In smaller towns, streets are quiet after 8 PM, with only supermarkets remaining open.
By keeping these lessons in mind, future colleagues can navigate Scandinavia more smoothly while making the most of their journey.
This trip was much more than meetings and travel—it was a testament to LiteBreeze’s commitment to building strong relationships, understanding different cultures, and consistently delivering value. Every interaction reinforced the importance of professionalism, transparency, and always going the extra mile.
As a traveler from India exploring Scandinavian work culture firsthand, several practical lessons stood out. Scandinavia’s balanced approach to work and life, paired with the principle of “strong freedom under strict responsibility,” promotes an environment where productivity thrives alongside personal well-being.
Experiencing this firsthand highlighted the value of adapting to new environments, embracing cultural differences, and finding harmony between work and downtime.
For future colleagues embarking on similar trips, balancing productive client meetings with moments of personal reflection is key to staying energized and making the most of each interaction. Flexibility with schedules, especially when navigating different time zones, and an openness to cultural nuances, can smooth the path for successful collaborations.
And finally, the connections built beyond the office are invaluable; they create lasting relationships that enrich both personal and professional growth.
